It’s spring, which means it’s the perfect time of year for tea and shortbread. The flowers are blooming and the sun is out, but there’s just enough of a nip in the air to call for a nice cup of hot tea.
Nothing goes with tea like Rose’s Shortbread, but what sorts of shortbread go best with certain types of tea? We’ve partnered with a handful of wonderful Vancouver-area tea proprietors to bring you the best tea and shortbread pairings our skilled shortbread sommeliers can concoct.
We’re still looking to add more tea vendors to partner with. If this sounds like you we’d love to hear from you in the comments below or on any of our social channels!
During the next month, you can look forward to seeing tea selections from:
Tea Ave
East meets west in when we pair Rose’s Shortbread with traditional and floral flavoured oolongs from Taiwan.
About Tea Ave (from their website):
“It started with a cup of LiShan Oolong, an aroma cup and an idea. Brother and sister team Jeff and Heidi Chen put their professional talents (designer, PR guru) together with their insatiable love for oolong tea, and magic was made. Born and raised in Taiwan, where tea is an important part of the culture, Jeff and Heidi think tea is more than a drink—it’s an adventure. Tea Ave reflects their shared values and passions: clear, authentic advice, a top-notch e-commerce experience, and, of course, delicious oolong tea.”

Justea
Drinking tea from Justea feels as good as it tastes; these fair-trade African teas directly benefit the Kenyan farmers who grow them. We have two delicious black teas with a unique African twist that pair beautifully with our shortbread.
About JusTea (from their website):
“JusTea is a partnership between farmers in Kenya, and tea drinkers all over the world. By sourcing micro-batch, artisanal tea from small-scale farmers, we are able to offer a unique, premium-grade, flavourful tea. Available on-line, and in stores across North-America, each purchase supports farming families in rural Kenya.
It’s a unique tea, with a unique story.”
